Rams handed first volleyball losses by Seawolves

BIBLE HILL - It was a weekend the Dalhousie Rams would like to forget.

The Rams (4-2) dropped a pair of women's volleyball matches to the Saint John Seawolves (2-3) on the weekend in the Atlantic Colleges Athletic Association. The losses, which were in Saint John, were the first of the season for the Rams.

The Rams were defeated 3-1 in both matches, falling 17-25, 23-25, 25-21, 16-15 on Sunday and 25-20, 18-25, 15-25, 20-25 on Saturday.

Samantha Fanning led the Rams on Sunday with 11 kills and 13 digs while Thea McLachlin collected 10 kills and 15 digs. Jessica MacAskill made 19 digs and Brianna Sinclair made 13.

On Saturday Fanning and McLachlin each notched 11 kills and 13 digs while MacAskill made a team-high 15 digs.

The Rams are back in action Wednesday when they host the Mount St. Vincent Mystics at 7 p.m. at Langille Athletic Centre.
