South Colchester squad forced into bronze medal match on Saturday
BROOKFIELD – The South Colchester Wolves will be playing for bronze Saturday at the NSSAF Division 3 girls soccer championship in New Germany.
The Wolves were defeated 7-4 Friday by Ecole du Carrefour in their semifinal match, pushing South Colchester into the bronze medal match at 10 a.m. against an opponent yet to be determined.
Ecole du Carrefour moves on to the noon gold medal match.
“It’s disappointing but to put it in perspective we ran into a very talented team that was a step or two ahead of us,” Wolves coach Kelly Spencer said. “But we don’t have to hang our heads. They deserved the victory but we made them earn it.”
Karlee Burgess scored twice for the Wolves with other goals coming from Haley Duykers and Olivia Wolter-Cook.
Updates to come.
