Elks breeze past Bulldogs in junior B hockey

BROOKFIELD – The Brookfield Elks hammered the Antigonish Bulldogs 9-2 Tuesday in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League.

The victory lifts the Elks (3-7-0-1) into a tie with the Eastern Shore Mariners (3-5-1-0) for fifth place in the six-team Fred Fox Division. The Bulldogs (3-5-1-0) sit in a tie with the Pictou County Scotians (3-5-0-1) for third in the Sid Rowe Division.

Brookfield is back in action Monday when they travel to Sackville for a7:30 p.m. date with the defending champion Blazers (6-1-0-0).

Matt Canning and Leon Knockwood powered the Elks with each netting a pair of goals while Jake Bowers, Ryan Ingraham, Ryan Crowe, Lucas Dawe and Ian O’Brien rounded out the scoring.

Spencer Scott collected his third win of the season with 38 saves.

Fraser White and Mitch Getson responded for Antigonish. Keagan Butler despite being replaced at the start of the second period by Patrick McNamara, was charged with the loss.
