Wolves win Northumberland region girls soccer title

BROOKFIELD - The South Colchester Academy Wolves posted an undefeated record to capture the Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation Northumberland region Division 3 girls soccer championship on Friday.

The Wolves won in convincing fashion, defeating Springhill 7-0 and East Antigonish 8-1.

With the wins, the Wolves earned the right to host a NSSAF provincial qualifying tournament next weekend. The winner of the qualifier will advance to provincials in the Western region Nov. 1 and 2.

In the win over Springhill, Karlee Burgess and Kylee Graham each netted two goals to pace the attack. Amanda Brenneman, Nicole Collier and Olivia Wolter-Cook added single markers and Erica Robertson and Kristyn Miller shared the shutout.

Against East Antigonish, Haley Duykers and Wolter-Cook each scored hat tricks and Adree Lynds had a pair of goals.

In the other tournament game, Springhill edged East Antigonish 2-1.
