BROOKFIELD - The Brookfield Jr. B Elks struggles continued during the weekend with a pair of losses in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League.

The Elks were edged 3-2 by the Glace Bay Miners on Saturday after a 4-1 loss to the Strait Pirates on Friday in Port Hawkesbury.
With the losses the Elks fall to 2-7-0 (W-L-OTL), last in the five-team Fred Fox Division.
At the Don Henderson Memorial Sportsplex, the Elks spotted the visitors a 3-0 lead, before mounting a late charge that fell just short.
Zach Walsh gave the Miners a 1-0 lead in the first, while Chris Ross scored the only goal of the second for a 2-0 Glace Bay cushion after two periods. Drew Wilcox made it 3-0 early in the third, before Richard Nerysoo got the Elks on the board with 8:23 left to play. Nerysoo scored again with seven seconds remaining for the margin of defeat.
Elks goalie Spencer Scott was peppered with 53 shots, while Scott MacDonald of the Miners made 36 saves for the win.
At the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre, Kenzie Dowie's power-play goal in the second period was the winner as the Pirates skated to victory.
Dave Greencorn, Steven Campbell and Gavyn Helle also had goals for the winners, while Zachary Bates had the lone goal for the Elks. Scott made 24 saves.
