TRENTON - Leon Knockwood's hat trick helped the Brookfield Elks to their second win of the season on Sunday.
The Elks doubled the Pictou County Scotians, 6-3, on the road at the Trenton Arena.
Zachary Coates was the first to put a point on the board with less than two minutes remaining in the first period.
The Scotians replied in the second with three goals before Ryan Crowe's powerplay goal brought the Elks within one.
Knockwood's first goal of the game came with 16 seconds remaining in the second period.
It was all Brookfield scoring in the third, with Crowe adding his second of the night before Knockwood scored a shorthanded and empty net goal.
Spencer Scott picked up the win in nets for the Elks stopping 43 shots, while Ben Goss earned the loss, allowing five of 42 shots.
The Elks and Scotians meet again on Tuesday with a 7:30 p.m. start at the Don Henderson Memorial Sportsplex in Brookfield.
