Cougars finish perfect season with win over North Nova

TRURO – The Cobequid Cougars finished their regional regular season schedule Tuesday on a high note.

The Cougars laid a 6-1 beating on the North Nova Gryphons in New Glasgow to finish the high school soccer season 4-0 and in top spot in the regional standings. For finishing first, the Cougars earn a bye to the Northumberland Region final on Oct. 17 at CEC Field.

Mike Vanderpoel and Ben Gorringe each scored a pair of goals while Brandon Archibald and Stefan Scholte struck for single tallies.

The Cougars held a 3-0 lead at half-time.

The Cougars are back in action Thursday when they take on the South Colchester Wolves in a friendly at 4:30 p.m. in Brookfield.
