TRURO – Colchester County players helped Pictou County Weeks split their pair of weekend Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League contests with the Cape Breton Tradesmen.
Pictou County nipped Cape Breton 4-3 in overtime in Game 2 after falling 9-4 in the opener.
The results leave Pictou County (2-5-0-0) seventh in the eight-team league while the Tradesmen (2-2-0-2) are sixth.
Truro’s Michael Stuart opened the scoring in Game 2 with help from Truro’s Lucas Rushton. Valley’s Aaron Coleman also chipped in an assist on a Mark Vokey tally. Vokey also netted the winner and Nathaniel Leger notched the other tally. Truro’s Luke Melanson made 30 saves in the net.
In Game 1, Stuart and fellow Truro resident Matthieu Fougere scored while Truro’s Noah Archibald picked up an assist. Other Pictou County goals came from Blair Dewtie and Doug Barton.
Matthew Williams stopped 42 Cape Breton shots.
Pictou County is back in action Saturday when it travels to Halifax for a 7 p.m. meeting.
