TRURO – Brett Lauther was 1-for-3 as the Hamilton Tiger-Cats fell 35-11 to the Calgary Stampeders Saturday in the Canadian Football League.
Lauther, a 22-year-old Truro native and kicker for Hamilton, made a 27-yard field goal in the second quarter and made his only extra point attempt.
The Cobequid Cougars and Saint Mary’s Huskies grad was making just his second start of the season after going 4-for-4 in his debut a week earlier in a 28-26 victory over the Montreal Alouettes. The performance earned him the CFL’s special teams player of the week honour.
Lauther, six-foot-one, 195-pounds, also missed from 56 and 37 yards in the contest.
The loss dropped Hamilton to 6-7 while Calgary improved to 10-3.
Lauther was selected by the Tiger-Cats in the seventh round, 52nd overall in the CFL draft in May.
