A hometown boy is this week’s Bearcat-of-week.
Daniel Perigo is this week's Bearcat of the Week.
Daniel Perigo, a 19-year-old forward in his third season with the Bearcats, has been his team’s most consistent player through the first five games of the MHL season.
Last weekend, he picked up three goals and an assist and was named the game’s first star in matches against Woodstock and Amherst. He’s been doing all the little things well and is being rewarded. Whenever he and linemate Colby Lanceleve are on the ice, good things can come Truro’s way.
He came through the Truro and Area Minor Hockey Association, landing at the midget level with the Pictou County Weeks major midget club where, for two years, he honed his scoring ways and leadership capabilities.
In 2011 he was drafted by the QMJHL’s P.E.I. Rocket and was a territorial selection of the Bearcats. After a strong major junior camp, he reported to the Bearcats and has been a fixture since. A scoring threat, with a physical edge, he’s playing motivated hockey.
The Bearcats are off this weekend. The team’s next home game is set for Oct. 5 when the Pictou County Crushers come to RECC.
