TRURO – The Truro Blue Bombers scored an important win on the weekend in the Nova Scotia Minor Football League’s peewee division.
The Blue Bombers thumped the Fall River Dragons (0-2) 49-0 Saturday in Lantz to even their record at 1-1.
The Bombers look to record another win in their home opener Friday at 6:30 p.m. at the TAAC Grounds against the rival Timberlea Titans (1-0).
Truro was led by quarterback Michael Adams, who scored a pair of rushing touchdowns and added a pair of passing scores to Tyree Desmond. On defence, Jordan Waller made a pair of interceptions and returned them for majors.
The Truro Freightliners started their season with a 60-0 thrashing of the South Shore Seahawks (0-2) in Bridgewater.
The offense got touchdowns from Brody Reyno, Dustin Pettigrew, Mackie Hart, Cole MacIsaac, Ethan Devouge and Devon Jessop. Defensively the Freightliners dominated and produced points of their own from Riley Gabriel and Cole MacIsaac. Julianne Johnson also forced a pair of fumbles.
The Freightliners host the Valley Bulldogs (2-0) in their home opener Friday at 8:30 p.m. at the TAAC Grounds.
The Truro Tide were nipped 6-0 by the Dartmouth Destroyers White in their season opener.
The Truro defence was solid but the offence couldn’t muster a touchdown.
Cameron Russell and Hayden Payson led the way on defence.
The Tide are back in action Saturday as they travel to Bridgewater to face the South Shore Seahawks (1-0).
