TRURO – It’s an important weekend on the Maritime Pro Stock Tour for Colchester County’s racers in the oval track series.
Brookside’s Dylan Blenkhorn could clinch the series’ top rookie title while East Mountain’s Steve Henderson, crew chief for defending champion Shawn Turple, is hoping to help his driver take back second place in the points standings.
The series makes its penultimate stop of the season at Riverside International Speedway Saturday for the Lucas Oil 100. The event gets underway at 4:30 p.m.
Blenkhorn, 18, leads all rookies in the points standings in ninth place with 1,814, two spots ahead of Cole Butcher with 1,774. Blenkhorn crossed the line third last time out at Petty International Raceway on Aug. 24.
Turple (1,897) trails Fredericton’s Shawn Tucker by 19 points for second while Halifax’s John Flemming is well clear in front with a 74-point cushion over Tucker.
