The CC Riders claimed a bronze medal on the weekend at the provincial under-14 girls soccer championship in Halifax with a 3-0 win over Sackville United in the final. TRURO – The CC Riders are provincial champions.
The Riders Under-14A boys soccer squad laid claim to the title on the weekend in Halifax after a 1-0 victory over East Hants in the final.
The performance topped what was an excellent weekend for Riders clubs. All three teams brought home medals from their respective events with the Under-16A girls claiming silver in New Minas and the Under-14A girls earning bronze in Halifax.
Mark Carroll notched the lone Riders tally in the Under-14A boys final. The Riders got there with a 10-0 drubbing of Halifax, which saw Luke MacMillan score five times. Matthew Sandeson added three, with Sanjeev Makkar and Hayden Roy striking for singles.
In Under-16A girls action, the Riders fell 1-0 to Halifax County in the final.
The girls defeated East Kings 4-2 in a semifinal match. Karlee Burgess had three goals and Olivia MacPhee claimed the other.
The Under-14A girls blanked Sackville United 3-0 in their third-place match. Sydney Miller scored twice with Julia Schmitt rounding out the scoring. Ceilidh McKenney and Eilish Keaveney shared the clean sheet.
The Riders finish the season at 16-1-2.
