Pinkney remains perfect at senior women’s curling championship

SUMMERSIDE – Truro’s Colleen Pinkney earned two wins on Monday to improve to 5-0 at the Canadian senior women’s curling championship.

Pinkney hammered Alberta’s Debbie Santos 8-2 after an 8-6 victory over New Brunswick’s Heidi Hanlon to remain atop the leaderboard at the 12-team round-robin event.

Pinkney, third Wendy Currie, second Shelley MacNutt and lead Susan Creelman meet Ontario today at 2:30 p.m. at Silver Fox Curling Club.

Manitoba’s Lois Fowler (4-0) is second, while Newfoundland’s Laura Phillips (3-1) is third.

Pinkney is chasing her second national senior title after winning in 2009.
