TRURO – It wasn’t the start to the playoffs the Truro Bearcats were looking for.

The Bearcats were toppled 3-1 by the Pictou County Crushers Saturday in the opener of their best-of-seven EastLink Division semifinal at RECC.

Game 2 is Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Pictou County Wellness Centre.

Bearcats defenceman Zac Evans-Renaud netted the lone Truro tally in front of 1,508 fans, while Shayne Campbell made 19 saves.

Evan Carmody scored for Pictou County just 1:39 into the game and the Crushers never looked back, using two more from Nick Parker to seal the win. Brandon Thibeau stopped 22 shots.
