BIBLE HILL – The schedule has been released for this week’s Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA) women’s basketball championship at Langille Athletic Centre.
The three-day event kicks off Thursday when the fifth-ranked Alberta champion Olds Broncos take on the NO.4 Ontario champion Algonquin Thunder at 1 p.m.
That will be followed at 3:15 p.m. when the No. 8 Mount St. Vincent Mystics, who occupy the host spot by virtue of their runner-up performance in the ACAA, meet the top-ranked Nomades de Montmorency of Quebec.
The ACAA champion St. Thomas Tommies, ranked No. 2, do battle with the No. 7 Fanshawe Falcons, silver medallists in Ontario, at 8:15 after the No. 6 British Columbia champion VIU Mariners and No. 3 Quebec ruunners-up Dawson Blues meet at 6 p.m.
Winners move on to Friday’s semifinal matchups at 6 and 8:15 p.m. while the losers play for placement.
The gold medal game is slated for Saturday at 8:15 p.m. while the bronze medal will be handed out at 6 p.m.
The CCAA will hold its annual awards banquet on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
