DEBERT – Soft Touch Car Wash and the Gutter Done Thunder jumped out to 1-0 leads in their best-of-seven Labatt West Colchester Commercial Hockey League semifinal playoff series.
Soft Touch defeated the MacKenzie’s Towing Flames in a 7-5 shootout while Gutter Done nipped McLellan’s Machine Shop 5-4.
Brian Roode and Scott Totten each scored twice to lead Soft Touch while Nick Pettipas, Aaron Manuel and Matt McClellan netted single markers. Andrew Betts and Roode each added a pair of assists and Landon Crowe was the winning goaltender.
Justin Martin and Andrew Blair each notched two goals for MacKenzie’s with Matt Shipley rounding out the scoring. Joey MacDonald, Jason Reddick and Martin each collected two assists.
Gutter Done got two goals each from Brad Richie and Jason Spares with Josh Kennedy also scoring. Ryan Doucet had two helpers and Kelly Hirtle picked up the win.
Brandon MacLean scored twice for McLellan’s with Ryan Bates and Trevor Lynds also hitting the net. Lynds also had an assist.
