BROOKFIELD - The Brookfield Elks have advanced to the Fred Fox Division final in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League.
The Elks got two goals from James Shapleigh in a 3-1 victory over the Bay Ducks on Tuesday to win the best-of-seven playoff series in five games.
The Elks will now play the Sackville Blazers, who also won their first-round series in five games over the Valley Maple Leafs.
Shapleigh scored the lone goal of the first period last night and added a power-play marker in the second during a penalty-filled affair at the Don Henderson Memorial Sportsplex.
Cole Baker also scored for Brookfield, while Alex Farquhar had the lone goal for the Ducks.
Spencer Scott earned the win between the pipes.
