TRURO – The Truro Bearcats will not be competing for a provincial major bantam hockey championship.

The Bearcats were eliminated from postseason play on the weekend in a 2-1 loss to the St. Margaret’s Gulls. The setback gave the Gulls a 2-0 sweep in the best-of-three affair. Truro dropped Game 1 3-2.

The Bearcats didn’t go down without a fight.

Robert MacKenzie pulled Truro to within a goal with 3:42 remaining, sending the Gulls scrambling. Jack Lynds made 31 saves in the net.

Bradley Shaw and Cameron Zinck scored for the Gulls. Matt Williams made 20 saves.
