TRURO - Colchester County hockey fans will get a rare opportunity to see one of their own Friday on national television.
Beaver Brook native Casey Babineau and his Rimouski Oceanic (38-14-2-6) take on the Moncton Wildcats (38-20-1-0) in a Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) matchup on Rogers Sportsnet.
The game is set for at 8 p.m. local time. The network has been broadcasting junior games on Friday nights all season.
Babineau, a 20-year-old captain of the Oceanic, is in his final season of junior eligibility. The five-foot-11, 185-pounder has four goals and 11 assists in 59 games this season. His 15 points are just three shy of his career high set last year over 63 contests.
Rimouski sits atop the East Division and is second overall while Moncton is second in the Maritimes Division, fifth overall, behind the Halifax Mooseheads (49-6-2-1).
