BROOKFIELD – The Brookfield Elks missed an opportunity to put the Bay Ducks in a big hole on Tuesday in their Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League playoff series.

The Elks lost 3-2 in Brookfield, and lead the best-of-seven Fred Fox Division semifinal series 2-1. Game 4 is Saturday at the St. Margaret’s Bay Arena at 8:30 p.m.

Geoff Burke and Liam Carr scored goals for the Elks last night, while Bryce Hirtle, Mitch Smith and Joe Murphy, on a penalty shot, replied for the Ducks.

Elks goalie Spencer Scott made 33 saves, while Ducks netminder Tom Nicholson faced 35 shots.

After a scoreless first period, the Ducks took a 3-1 lead into the final stanza.
