TRURO - The Truro Bearcats suffered a 3-2 loss to the Bubba Rays Gulls in the opening game of their best-of-three Nova Scotia Major Bantam Hockey League playoff series on the weekend at Colchester Legion Stadium.

The Bearcats will try to stave off elimination in Game 2 Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Halifax Forum. Game 3, if necessary, will also be on the weekend in Halifax.

In spite of outshooting the Gulls 33-30, the Bearcats couldn't make the shot-advantage count. Truro held 1-0 and 2-1 leads before the Gulls took over late in the game.

Noah Archibald and Brandon MacDonald scored for Truro, while Ben Higgins, Jevan McNutt, Brandon Starratt and Archibald picked up assists. Jack Lynds had a strong game in the Truro crease.
