Elks extend junior B playoff series lead over Ducks

ST. MARGARET’S BAY – The Brookfield Elks took a 2-0 lead in their Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League playoff series with the Bay Ducks Saturday with a 5-2 win in St. Margaret’s Bay.

Game 3 of the best-of-seven Fred Fox Division semifinal is set for Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in Brookfield.

Brookfield jumped out to a 4-0 lead early in the second period on a pair of goals from  Liam Carr and singles from Geoff Burke and Nick Carroll.

Chris Ruguse scored twice for the Ducks to cut the lead in half before Jordan Lauther scored in the third for the Elks.

Spencer Scott made 24 saves for the win while Thomas Nicholson made 27 stops in the Bay net.
