#3 Zach Evans-Renaud

20, Defence
Zach Evans-Renaud is this week’s Bearcat-of-the-Week.
In all three games last week, the defenceman contributed a goal from the point and chipped in two assists as well. It was a strong offensive display to go along with his best defensive hockey week of the season. He kept things simple and was rewarded.
He got his hockey start in the Souris and Montague area of Prince Edward Island. Following his bantam AAA tenure with the Kings County Kings, he moved on to a two-year stint with the major midget Cornwall Thunder. His second season there saw he and his teammates win the provincial championship and capture silver at Atlantics.
A 2009 draft pick by the Campbellton Tigers, he played 30 games in 2009-10, finishing third in team scoring with nine goals and 15 assists. Before the season ended, he reported to the Lewiston Maineiacs for 13 games. He played the full 2010-11 season in Lewiston but was picked up by the Gatineau Olympiques in a dispersal draft when the Maineiacs folded. After 17 games in Gatineau last year, he was released and reported to the Bearcats who had acquired his rights from Campbellton. He finished last season with 21 points and in five playoff games recorded three goals and three assists. Just maybe he’s beginning to find his range.
