FORT MCMURRAY, Alta. – The Truro rink skipped by Mary Myketyn-Driscoll was thumped 11-3 in eight ends by Sasakatchewan’s Jessica Hanson on Wednesday at the Canadian junior women’s curling championship.

The loss dropped Myketyn-Driscoll to 3-4 at the 14-team event.

It was the Truro foursome’s first game in the championship pool after finishing 3-3 in the round-robin on Tuesday.

The Nova Scotia champions, who also consist of third Taylor Clarke, second Mackenzie Proctor and lead Sarah Sears, completed round-robin play Tuesday night with an 11-2 loss to unbeaten Shannon Birchard of Manitoba.

In yesterday’s game, Saskatchewan broke open a close game by scoring four in the fifth end and adding five in the eighth before the teams shook hands.

Nova Scotia met B.C. Wednesday night (visit trurodaily.com for result). Today, Myketyn-Driscoll faces the Yukon, before completing championship pool action on Friday against New Brunswick.
