TRURO – Peter Millman’s strong start to the CIS indoor track and field season continued on the weekend at the Bison Classic at the University of Winnipeg.
MIllman, an 18-year-old Truro native competing for the Lethbridge Pronghorns, won the men’s weight throw with a 17.46m personal best performance to stay perfect in the event through two meets this season.
His effort was 1.30m further than his nearest competitor.
Millman also posted a runner-up performance in the in the shot put at 14.78m.
In women’s action, fellow Pronghorn and Truro native Kayla Gallagher’s personal best 16.05m in the weight throw earned her second place while teammate Montana Forsyth, also a Truro native, was sixth with her personal best 14.37m throw. In the shot put, Gallagher was fourth (11.64m), while Forsyth was seventh (10.16m).
At the Dalhousie Super Sunday Meet on Sunday, Truro’s Robert Kennedy made a 12.82m throw to win the shot put for the Dalhousie Tigers. All four athletes are former members of the Truro Lions.
Current Lion Nathan Burris won the weight throw at the Super Sunday meet at 13.11m.
