TRURO – Pictou County suffered a pair of setbacks to the Halifax Titans on the weekend to kick off playoff action in the Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League.
Pictou was nipped 2-1 Sunday in overtime after falling 7-4 on Saturday to trail the best-of-five quarter-final series 2-0.
Blair Dewtie notched the lone Pictou tally on Sunday with help from Lucas Sangster and Cole Livingstone.
Truro’s Luke Melanson made 31 saves in the crease.
On Saturday, Livingstone, Darryl Wheadon, Lane Cormier and Mark Vokey scored for Pictou County. Wheadon also had two assists and Melanson stopped 33 shots.
Truro Bearcats junior A draft pick Jordan Yochoff recorded an assist in both games for Halifax.
Bible Hill’s Lucas Holman, Tatamagouche’s Jarvis Mattatall, Aaron Coleman of Valley, Mitchell LeBlanc of Debert and Truro’s Brady Meech, Lucas Rushton and Michael Stuart are all members of the team.
