TRURO - The Truro Bearcats fell 6-5 to the Pictou County Weeks Crushers in Maritime Junior Hockey League on Saturday.

The loss dropped the third-place Bearcats record to 27-9-0-4, leaving them one point behind the Amherst Ramblers who defeated the Metro Shipbuilders 5-1. The fourth-place Crushers are seven points behind the Bearcats at 23-15-4-1.

Team captain Kyle Morrison paced Truro with two goals and three assists. He leads the team with 25 goals and 36 assists in 38 games.

Other scorers for the Bearcats were Travis Fernley, with a pair, and Jordan Coccimiglio.

Replying for Pictou County were John Mullally, with two, team captain Nick Parker, Tyler Doyle, Miitchell Shewfelt and Andrew Graham.

Truro starting netminder Shayne Campbell was lifted after allowing five goals in the first two periods. Jacob Fancy stopped three of four shots in te third.

The Bearcats outshot the Crushers 34-22.

Attendance was 678.
