BROOKFIELD – The Brookfield Elks have retaken the lead in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League’s Fred Fox Division.

The Elks (17-9-1-2) used a 6-2 victory over the fourth-place Eastern Shore Mariners (15-12-2-0) Tuesday at Don Henderson Memorial Sportsplex to leapfrog the Sackville Blazers (17-10-2-0) for a one-point cushion at the top. Sackville took the division lead Monday with a 7-5 win over the East Hants Penguins (11-15-3-0).

Jordan Lauther, Drew McNutt, James Shapleigh, Travis Nevin, Geoff Burke and Liam Carr all scored for Brookfield while Spencer Scott recorded his 17th win of the season.

Former Truro Bearcats forward Jordan Cox scored for Eastern Shore with the other coming from Tim Mannette. Joe Hines suffered the loss.

The Elks are back in action Tuesday when they host the Cumberland County Blues (9-19-1-0) at 7:30 p.m.
