Pictou County earns split in major midget hockey

TRURO – The goals came fast and furious as Pictou County scored a 9-6 victory over the Cape Breton Tradesmen Sunday in the Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League.

The win salvaged a weekend which also saw Pictou drop a 4-3 decision to the Tradesmen on Saturday.

The results leave Pictou County (9-22-0-4) in seventh in the eight-team league, five points behind Cole Harbour (11-19-3-2).

Statistics from today’s tilt are currently unavailable.

On Saturday, Pictou County got goals from Mark Vokey, Darryl Wheadon and Cody Johnston. Truro’s Luke Melanson made 25 saves.

Bible Hill’s Lucas Holman, Tatamagouche’s Jarvis Mattatall, Aaron Coleman of Valley, Mitchell LeBlanc of Debert and Truro’s Brady Meech, Lucas Rushton and Michael Stuart are also members of the team.
