BRIDGEWATER - Grant West fired three goals to pace the Truro Bearcats to a 4-2 win over the Bridgewater Lumberjacks in Maritime Junior Hockey League play here Friday.

The result boosted the Bearcats record to 25-6-0-4, good for second place in the Eastlink Division. The fifth-place Lumberjacks dipped to 7-32-0-2.


West's outburst gives him 16 goals in 31 games this season. Kyle Morrison, Truro's leading scorer, netted his 19th goal to complete the scoring. Mitchell Robillard helped out with three assists.

Robert Fraser and Shawn Boudreau replied for Bridgewater.

Jacob Fancy made 21 saves for the Bearcats, who outshot the Lumberjacks 32-23.

Truro held period leads of 2-1 and 3-1.

Attendance was 450.

The Bearcats return to action on Saturday when they host the Dieppe Commandos at Colchester Legion Stadium at 7 p.m.

The Commandos (19-14-1-3) are currently third in the Meek Division.
