Bearcats win handily over Saint John in minor midget hockey

TRURO – The Truro M.U. Rhino Renovations Bearcats continued their dominance of the New Brunswick Midget AAA Hockey League.

The Bearcats gave the Saint John Phantoms a 9-1 thrashing in their most recent outing. The result extended the Bearcats’ (18-2-0-0) lead to four points over the Moncton Hawks (17-4-0-0).

The Bearcats, who will be hosting the Atlantic championship March 21-24, are back in action Friday when they host Moncton Friday at 8 p.m. at Colchester Legion Stadium.  Truro visits Moncton Sunday.

Neil Smith and Alex McNutt each scored a pair of goals for the Bearcats and added a pair of assists. Greg Harris, who also collected a pair of helpers, Brandan Turner, Alex Place, Lucas Gulliver and Kenny MacInnes all notched single tallies.

Brandon Archibald made 20 saves for the win.
