Millman wins at first CIS event

TRURO – It didn’t take long for Peter Millman to find success on the CIS stage.

The 18-year-old Truro native won at his first meet as a Lethbridge Pronghorn on the weekend at the 41st Annual Golden Bear Open Track and Field Meet in Edmonton.

Millman 16.85m effort in the 35-pound weight throw bested his nearest competitor by 1.24m,

Millman also laid claim to a bonze medal in the 7.26kg shot put with a 14.94m toss.

Millman is a multiple provincial record holder and competed for Canada in the 2011 world youth track and field championships in France.

Fellow Pronghorns and Truro athletes Kayla Gallagher and Montana Forsyth were fourth and ninth in women’s 4kg shotput, and sixth and eighth in women’s 20-pound weight throw, respectively.
