Bearcats pick up win over Weeks Crushers

TRURO - The Truro Bearcats dropped the Pictou County Weeks Crushers 5-3 on Saturday ini Maritime Junior A Hockey action.

The Weeks Crushers scored two powerplay goals in the first period to take the lead in frnt of 560 hockey fans, however Grant West cut the lead in half with a goal at 16:33 in the period.

Kyle Morrison tied the game with a powerplay shot at 8:19 in the second, only to have Pictou County come back and take the lead by one at the end of the second.

All three goals scored in the third came from Truro - with Patrick Downe, Philip Fife and Travis Fernley (empty net) each picking up a goal.

Shayne Campbell picked up the win for the Bearcats, stopping 15 shots, while Brandon Thibeau suffered the loss.
