TRURO - The Knights of Columbus will hold its annual basketball free throw competition on Jan. 19 at Redcliff Middle School, beginning at noon.

The contest is free and is open to all boys and girls aged 8 to 14 in the Truro/Colchester County area. All participants will receive a Certificate of Participation, shoulder patch and pizza and pop. Age eligibility is determined by the contestant's age as of Jan 1.

The winners in each age group will receive plaques and the right to represent Truro/Colchester County in the district contest, which will be held next month against the winners from Springhill and Amherst. District winners will advance to the provincial championship March 2.

Entry forms are available through minor basketball, area schools or online at kocyouthprogram@eastlink.ca.

The Knights of Columbus basketball free throw competition was started in 1972 and since that time, more than five million children have competed in the contest.
