Burke nets pair as junior B Elks down Scotians

BROOKFIELD – Geoff Burke scored two goals and Spencer Scott turned aside 30 shots as the Brookfield Elks downed the Pictou County Scotians 4-1 Tuesday in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League.

Shane Piercey and Daniel Bates added other goals for the Elks (15-9-1-1). Drew McNutt and James Shapleigh each added two assists, while Liam Carr, Nick Carroll, Kevin Nicks and Connor Baker had other helpers.

The Elks peppered Scotians netminder Mitchell Donlevy with 44 shots.

Brookfield sits second in the Fred Fox Division, just two points behind the first-place Sackville Blazers.
