Bearcats working on deadline deal

TRURO – Shawn Evans, head coach and general manager of the Truro junior A Bearcats hockey team, was working on a last-minute deal Thursday night before the midnight deadline for finalizing rosters.

Evans was mum on what exactly he had brewing, but did confirm to the Truro Daily News he was working on a trade.

The Bearcats made a splash on Wednesday with the addition of forward Alex Hazelhurst.

Hazelhurst, Truro first pick in he 2011 draft, spent the first part of this season in the Quebec major junior league with the Sherbrooke Phoenix.

He recorded an assist in his first game with the Bearcats on Wednesday – a 6-5 shootout win in Amherst.
