TRURO – The red-hot Brookfield Elks look to continue to be so as they host the Valley Maple Leafs tonight in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League.
Game time is 7:30 p.m. at Don Henderson Memorial Sportsplex.
The Elks have been one of the league’s best clubs since making a deal Nov. 26 for forwards Geoff Burke, Liam Carr and Devon Muir from the Cumberland County Blues. Brookfield has collected seven wins in its past 10 games, lifting the squad into a tie for fourth in the log-jammed Fred Fox Division with the Bay Ducks (12-10-2-0), just two points out of second spot.
A victory would pull the Elks even with the Maple Leafs (11-6-4-2), who are tied for second with the Eastern Shore Mariners (13-10-2-0).
The Sackville Blazers (16-8-2-0) lead the division with 34 points.
The top four teams make the playoffs.
