WINNIPEG - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League extended the contract of kicker Justin Palardy on Thursday.

The six-foot, 195-pound Palardy, a native of Murray Siding, made 39 of 45 field goal attempts last season (third in the CFL) to equal his career best 86.7 per cent field goal percentage.

The 24-year-old was named Bombers' special teams player of the year.

Palardy played high school football at CEC before a university career at Saint Mary's. He was drafted by the Hamilton Ti-Cats in the fifth round of the 2010 CFL draft.

The Blue Bombers also re-signed defensive back Johnny Sears Thursday.
