Elks charge past Mariners in junior B hockey

BROOKFIELD - Nick Carroll scored a pair of goals as the Brookfield Elks hammered the Eastern Shore Junior Mariners 6-2 Saturday in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League.

The result lifts the Elks (6-6-1-1) into a tie for fifth in the Fred Fox Division with the Bay Ducks (7-9-0-0).

The Mariners (9-6-1-0) sit in third spot in the division.

Carroll also added an assist for a three-point night while Cole Baker, Travis Nevin, Drew McNutt and Dustin Wheeler also scored for Brookfield. Andrew Kennedy recorded a pair of helpers.

Spencer Scott made 41 saves for Brookfield and Luke Zareski was handed the loss with 30 stops.

Tyler Somers and Tyler Harvie scored for Eastern Shore.
