#20 Travis Fernley
Calgary, AB
6'3, 190 lbs.
20, Forward
Bearcat of the week honours go to second-year forward Travis Fernley.
In last Friday's win over Bridgewater, he was the game's first star with a pair of goals and three assists. He and linemates Travis Moore and Kyle Morrison were a threat each shift.
In his first 18 games this year, he's posted 10 goals and 10 assists.
Fernley got his hockey start in the Calgary Blackfoot association, then worked his way through the Calgary Buffalo Hockey Club to the midget AA level.
In 2010-2011 he moved to the junior ranks with the North Bay Trappers (NOJHL) where he scored 16 and assisted on 21 others in 37 games.
Last year he started the season with the Woodstock Slammers before being traded to the Bearcats at the Jan. 10 deadline. At season's end he had accumulated 15 goals and 18 assists. The Bearcats got a very strong skater who returned this year committed to being a leader. To date, he's done everything asked of him.
