Cougars win girls high school hockey tourney

TRURO - The Cobequid Cougars needed some extra time to nip the Northumberland Nighthawks 1-0 in the final of the Ultramar High School Hockey Classic girls tournament on the weekend.

April MacKay scored the winner for the Cougars at the event, which was hosted by the Auburn Drive Eagles.

Ashley Morrell posted the shutout.

The Cougars blanked the C.P. Allen Cheetahs 3-0 in their crossover game to earn a spot in the final. They also shut out the host Eagles 1-0 and the J.L. Ilsley Judges 3-0 in the round robin after dropping their opener 4-3 to the Nighthawks.
