TRURO - Truro's Brett Lauther is gaining some recognition for an outstanding football season.

The 22-year-old Saint Mary's Huskies kicker was recently named to the AUS All-Star team as Saint Mary's gets ready to take on the Acadia Axemen in today's conference final at 1 p.m. at Acadia.

Lauther, a Cobequid Cougars graduate, led the conference in scoring with 73 points and his 16 field goals were just one shy of his career high of 17 set last season. He also carried a success rate of 80 per cent.

Lauther was one of eight Huskies named to the team, which was selected by the conference's four head coaches. The roster also features 11 Axemen, five members of the Mount Allison Mounties and three St. F.X. X-Men.

Saint Mary's defeated the Mounties 49-11 in their quarter-final while Acadia advanced straight to the final by virtue of their first-place regular season finish.
