Pictou County falls to top-ranked Wildcats in major midget hockey

TRURO - The Pictou County Major Midgets were nipped 3-2 Sunday by the Valley Wildcats in Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League action in New Glasgow.

Truro's Michael Stuart scored his first goal of the season for Pictou County, which falls to 4-8-0-1- for sixth in the eight-team league. Valley leads the league at 15-1-0-1, 14-points clear of second place Halifax (8-1-1-0) and Dartmouth (8-4-0-1).

Cole Livingstone had the other Pictou County marker while Truro's Luke Melanson made 36 saves.

Bible Hill's Lucas Holman and Debert's Mitchell LeBlanc chipped in with assists.

Aaron Coleman (Valley), Jarvis Mattatall (Tatamagouche), Brady Meech (Truro) and Lucas Rushton (Truro) round out the Colchester County talent on the roster.

Pictou County is back in action Saturday when it travels to Cornwall, P.E.I., to take on the Thunder at 4:30 p.m.
