Major Bantam Bearcats swarmed by Hawks in weekend play

TRURO - The Truro Bearcats were defeated 5-1 by the Halifax Hawks on the weekend in the Nova Scotia Major Bantam Hockey League.

The Bearcats (2-6-1) sit tied for ninth in the 12-team league with the Scotsburn Crushers (2-6-1).

Ryan Bakker netted the lone Truro tally with Brody MacPhee getting the assist. Jack Lynds made 30 stops in the crease.

The Bearcats also faced off against the Hawks Sunday in the second end of a home-and-home series. Results were unavailable at press time.

The Bearcats are back in action Saturday when they host the Bubba Rays Gulls (4-2-3) at 4:30 p.m. at Colchester Legion Stadium.
