Hirtle, Grue post shutouts to lead teams to victory
DEBERT - Shutouts were the order of the night on Thursday in the Labatt West Colchester Commercial Hockey League.
Kelly Hirtle of Gutter Done Thunder and Aaron Grue of Maxwell's Service Centre stopped all shots directed their way to lead their teams to victory.
Hirtle backstopped the Thunder to a 6-0 win over Sexton Auto Service. Kevin LeBlanc had two goals and an assist for Gutter Done, while Andrew Fisher had a goal and two assists. Kevin Smith, Josh Kennedy and Mike MacCallum fired other markers.
Meanwhile, Pat Rushton's goal with 13 minutes remaining was the winner as Maxwell's skated to a 2-0 victory over Soft Touch Car Wash. Catline Staples had the other goal.

Blizzards double Jet Cresting in women's hockey action
TRURO - Rachel deVries scored twice to help the Dairy Queen Blizzards to a 4-2 victory over Jet Cresting recently in the Colchester Women's Rec Hockey League.
Erin Crowell and Jennie McLeod also scored for the winners while Ashley Weatherbee chipped in a pair of assists. deVries and Crowell collected single helpers and Jaimie Saxton was the winning netminder.
Kelsey Brown and Marissa Roode provided the Jet Cresting offence and Ashley Moore notched two helpers. Vanessa McKillop was in the net.

Wolves in need of basketball coaches for coming season
BROOKFIELD - The South Colchester Wolves are looking for coaches for some of their varsity programs over the winter.
The school needs coaches for its junior boys and girls basketball teams and it's senior girls squad.

Gym time available for preschool kids at Langille Athletic Centre
BIBLE HILL - The Langille Athletic Centre is offering gym time for preschool children and their parents.
Random Activity Mixed with Sport will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 to 11 a.m. for children two and older and their parents or guardians.
The program kicks off Nov. 1.
