TRURO - The Cobequid Cougars brought home the bronze medal from the recent Westisle Wolverine Classic high school boys volleyball tournament.
The Cougars defeated Charlottetown Rural 2-1 (25-20, 23-25, 15-8) in the bronze-medal match.
The Cougars were forced to play for bronze after falling to 2-1 (25-21, 23-25, 15-13) to the host Wolverines in the 90-minute semifinal.
Cobequid handed the Sackville Kingfishers a 2-0 (25-16, 25-12) setback in the quarterfinal after posting a 3-1 record in the round robin with wins over Charlottetown Rural, Bluefield and Colonel Gray before falling to the Horton Griffins.
Adam Sandeson paced the Cougars with 54 kills and 20 digs while also achieving a 71 per cent passing efficiency. Harrison Callaghan was 95 per cent serving with 11 aces while adding 13 kills and 139 assists.
The Cougars are competing at the West Kings Wolverines Invitational this weekend.
