Pictou County wins, losses in major midget set with South Shore

TRURO - Pictou County split it's pair of contests with the South Shore Mustangs on the weekend in the Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League.

Pictou took Game 2 Sunday 5-1 after dropping a 5-3 decision in the opener Saturday.

The results lift the team to fifth in the eight-team league with a 4-7-0-1 record.

Mark Vokey notched a hat trick Sunday while Cody Johnston and Lane Cormier also scored. Valley's Aaron Coleman chipped in an assist. Truro's Luke Melanson made 26 saves for the victory.

In Game 1, debert's Mitchell LeBlanc scored, along with Blair Dewtie and Cole Livingstone. Melanson stopped the two shots he faced in five minutes of action. Tanner Doiron patrolled the crease the rest of the way, making 17 saves.
