TRURO - The Cobequid Cougars will try to snuff out the Lockview Dragons when the teams meet tomorrow for a Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation football game in Truro.
The opening kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m. at James Macpherson Stadium.
The Cougars (1-2) enter the contest looking to snap a two-game losing skid.
"I think the guys are anxious to get going and to get back in the win column," said Cougars coach Scott Annand.
"We had a real good week at practice and we're actually becoming a football team. And the guys with inexperience that we have on the team are starting to understand football, and it's been rewarding to see that from a coaching perspective."
The Cougars have three games remaining in the regular season and are in the thick of a heated playoff race. The top four teams advance to semifinals, and Annand feels his team must win two of its last three to earn a spot.
"We've preached all week they're in control of their own destiny," he said. "The ball's in our court, so to speak."
The Cougars have a hectic schedule on tap. Following Sunday's game, Cobequid meets C.P. Allen in Burnside Thursday, before hosting the Sir John A Macdonald Flames on Oct. 30 for a 2 p.m. start at James Macpherson Stadium.
