TRURO - The Cobequid Cougars suffered a 16-7 loss to the Dartmouth Spartans Sunday in their Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation Football League meeting in Burnside.
The setback drops the Cougars to 2-2, while Dartmouth improves to 3-2.
"Obviously the outcome of the game is disappointing but we have to look at the positives," Cougars coach Scott Annand said. "We battled to the end and that is going to take this program as far as it can go this year and in the future."
Quarterback Gab Bagnell scored the lone Cougars major, scampering 34 yards to the endzone. He ran for 43 yards in the game and added a further 31-yards through the air going 3-for-18.
The Spartans defence managed to pick off five of Bagnell's passes.
"We just have to execute and control the ball more on offence and make plays to sustain drives," Annand said.
Running back Ben Petrie collected 70 yards on 12 carries and Adam Kaulbach led the defence with eight tackles and a fumble recovery.
